Dr. Douglas Schreyack is a native of Camillus, New York, a suburb of Syracuse. He received a bachelor of arts degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1987 where he majored in physics with a minor in premedical studies. He received his doctorate in podiatric medicine and a bachelor of sciences, summa cum laude, from the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, in 1991. Dr. Schreyack completed his podiatric training during his surgical residency at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Germantown, Tennessee.
Following his residency training, Dr. Schreyack relocated to Durham where he joined the staff of Central Carolina Foot & Ankle Associates. After 12 years in private practice, he resigned his position with CCFA to join the Duke orthopaedic staff. Dr. Schreyack is the first, and presently only, podiatrist in the Duke University Healthcare System. He is assisted by Annette Batchelor, PMAC. They have worked closely together for the past 13 yrs.
Dr. Schreyack is board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He was granted recertification for an additional 10 years in 2006. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the North Carolina Foot & Ankle Society.
From 1998 to 2002, Dr. Schreyack studied law at the North Carolina Central University School of Law. He received his doctorate in Jurisprudence in the spring of 2002. He successfully passed the North Carolina bar exam that summer and was subsequently admitted to the North Carolina State Bar. He does not currently practice law, but instead, dedicates all his efforts to the furtherance of podiatric medicine in Durham and surrounding areas.
Dr. Schreyack is an associate staff member and enjoys surgical privileges at both Duke University Hospital and Durham Regional Hospital. He performs most of his surgical procedures on an outpatient basis at Duke's Ambulatory Surgical Center and the Davis Ambulatory Surgical Center. He enjoys all aspects of podiatric medicine, but concentrates primarily on forefoot reconstruction of bunion, lesser metatarsal and hammertoe deformities.
Dr. Schreyack resides in Durham and is the proud father of four children, Gretchen, Joseph, Michael and Matthew. He enjoys watching his children compete in a variety of sports. He enjoys running and he continues to play ice hockey in a local adult hockey league.
