If you are experiencing near-constant hip pain and conservative treatment hasn’t provided lasting relief, you may want to consider a total hip replacement procedure at North Carolina Orthopaedic Clinic. We’re a community-based practice near Chapel Hill that prides itself on providing specialized care and personalized service. Our fellowship-trained physicians are experts in total hip arthroplasty procedures and can help you find the lasting relief you’ve been searching for.
How the Procedure Works
When a hip joint deteriorates, the cushioning cartilage in the joint wears away and the bones in the joint can grind against one another. This can lead to joint stiffness, inflammation, and chronic pain. In a total hip replacement procedure, the damaged femoral head is replaced with a metal stem and the damaged cartilage surface of the socket is replaced with a metal socket. Additionally, a spacer – usually made of plastic, metal, or ceramic – is inserted between the new ball and socket to allow for smooth movement within the new joint.
Our Process
When you visit North Carolina Orthopaedic Clinic, our medical professionals will discuss your symptoms and medical history to help determine the best course of action for your specific case. As a patient-centered practice, we always consider nonsurgical treatment options first. However, if a hip replacement procedure is determined to be your best option, you can count on our team to provide the dedicated treatment and care you deserve.
